You look so much better when you smile!

family + friends,
So many exciting things have happened and are continuing to happen!

Firstly, Matt is being ordained this Sunday. :) I am so happy for him!
Secondly, the Saints Unified Voices directed by Gladys Knight came to our mission!!! We got to go
to the fireside, which was a missionary opportunity for all members (and us) to bring people, as
Gladys and her husband bore their testimonies of Jesus Christ and the restored Gospel! It was so
awesome. The music was stellar and Gladys Knight is so beautiful. She sang "I Stand All Amazed"
and the choir did all sorts of gospel songs. When she was walking down the aisle at the beginning,
she was super close to me because I was on the edge of a row..... She's so beautiful! I loved the
whole thing. The best part was that we had potential investigators, recent converts, and less actives
Thirdly, effects of the fireside were awesome. Sarah, an excommunicated member, and her
boyfriend, Draimon, came! They were touched by the Spirit so strongly. They have been to church
the past 2 weeks in a row!!! We met with them two days after and are beginning to teach them
and their kids twice a week. They are so ready to change and learn and grow! I love it.

- "What am I?! A potted plant?!" -Sister Olson
- "Dear Lord,if you restored your true church, why did you have to give it to a white boy?!" -William
McDowell, Gladys Knight's husband.
- "They make da BEST green jello, y'all! I am not kidding!... But I had to teach them how to make
fried chicken!" -Gladys Knight, about Mormons.
- Getting home at 12:10 AM after the fireside. #dailyschedule?
"What did Heavenly Father say to Abinadi when he got to heaven? Well done." -Sister Mc
- "It's called self control! Some people have that!" -Sister Helms, to me.
- When Elder Teh was relating to Finding Nemo and couldn't remember the name of the dad and
all the missionaries shout out, "MARLIN!" all sassy.... hahah
- "Help! I've fallen and I can't get up!" -Lucifer (yes, Satan.)
- Weeding gardens is scary, mainly bc 50 million spiders live in the soil. Also, bees attacked me
 more than once this week.
- "I love these girls. Because they're pretty." -Ben, 8, autistic kid who we teach bc he is scared to
 be baptized!
- "You're the BEST missionary, because you're pretty.... You have the prettiest hair." -Ben, to Sister

Sister Pound's Mission Definitions:
- hoarding solution: aka a basement or a garage (coined by Carolyn, our 80-year old investigator.)
- clover tracting: When we stop by a potential's and then knock the houses on either side and
directly across the street. We do this when we need to find new investigators!

We had Zone Conference yesterday with Elder Teh, of the Quorum of the 70. He is such a great
teacher! We heard from him and our other leaders. I am so motivated to be better and to work
harder! I am doing my best to be better each day, to be more obedient and to love everything that
comes my way. It's a conscious effort. I make changes because I am trying to be more like my
Savior, Jesus Christ. I have this set apart time to be His representative and I am so happy for
that blessing!

"Happiness is the object and design of our existence." -Joseph Smith
Forget not to be happy NOW! :}

I CAN DO THE SPLITS! (& other good news.)

I really can do the splits now. #lifegoalscomplete

Okay, some more important things than that happened this week.. I'll share. :}

We were able to meet with three less-actives with whom we have never had contact. The best miracle
of all: We were doing some stop-bys in a neighborhood, on our way to a potential's house. Sister Hodson
said, "Oh! I think a less active, Adams, lives over there!" But she kept driving, then exclaimed, "Should
we stop?!" I said, "YES!" so we parked on the side of the road and walked back to the house. Sister
Adams answered her door (She later told us she had the feeling she should, though she didn't want to.)
and shared with us that her son had taken his own life three weeks ago and how she is struggling. She
told us that she was the happiest when she was involved in church. She was worried about Heavenly
Father not accepting her son because he took his own life. We testified of Heavenly Father's love for
us and mercy and grace through the Atonement of Jesus Christ. We know that the Spirit led us there
and she did too! It was a miracle to see the hand of the Lord leading us to one of His lost children. It
was an amazing experience!

- I swept for service in a member's house.. she has 3 dogs.. she hadn't swept in WAY too long. I got
a whole new dog just in dog hair. It was gross. And fun.
- I GET TO MAKE TAMALES AT CHRISTMASTIME. :)))) with Sister Shannon, who is from Ecuador.
- "You were right, the bread is totally worth it!" -Brother McLiver, referring to Fran bread.
- Exchanges were so fun! I got to be with Sister Mejia (Her mom is from El Salvador, dad is from
Mexico!)! The whole day went as planned -- ALL of our appointments kept! #miracles
- "We're thankful that we could try... this.... experiment!" -Sister Mejia *laughter* -All 4 of us.
- "He's my daddy!!!" -Sister Crable, talking about her relationship with Heavenly Father.
Sister Pound's Mission Definitions:
- greenie excitement: When I do something in mission life that I have not yet experienced, but is old
news to every other missionary, I get really excited. For example, we got our first headquarter referral
this past week!!! I was excited.. :)
- Fran bread: Let me tell you -- Fran is this old lady who speaks her mind whenever she wants! She
makes the Sacrament bread & it is DELICIOUS. Like, I wanted more than a lil chunk once a week. So
I kept bugging Sister Olson to get the recipe (Fran lives in their area, of course!) and after a few
Sundays of pestering, she comes home & asks me,"Guess what I got?!"... Of course I couldn't guess,
but she told me & I hugged her so hard bc this bread is possibly from the heavens. (tl;dr Fran bread =
celestial bread. Also, I will send the recipe to my mom so she can perfect it before I come home!)

It's getting colder in Ohio, and I'm getting to be a pansie about it. But, I love the work we're doing and
I love the happiness it brings! I'll share my life motto with you all:
      1. Accept.
      2. Move on.
      3. Go be amazing!

I know that as we go through our trials and challenges, we are supported and carried by our Savior
and can endure happily :)

have a splendid week!
little hugs for everyone,

Sista Pound

p.s. here is the Fran bread!!! Sister McLiver made us some. She's probably the best.

This past week was so exciting!!! Lots of great things.
Refer to above title for one said "great thing"!!!!!!! MATT GOT BAPTIZED (and confirmed). Eternal family in the making. I am so happy, he is so happy, they are so happy! HAPPY. Too much goodness. We will continue teaching their family and Matt will receive the Priesthood soon, followed by so many other things! So much potential and they are working towards achieving it because Matt made ONE decision to act on his faith. We receive so much when we choose to act!
- "You have such a good mom!" "Yeah! (thinks some more) Yeahhhh.. Her whips my butt every night if I'm in trouble!" -Bryan, 3-year old crazy kid
- "I would drop kick him through the goal posts of life!!!" -Pam, talking about a "spawn of Satan" "heathen" of a little dog, Max
- "I know how to roll wit mah hood boys!" -e. Poe
- "As sure as a grizzly bear will find its way to a California honey festival!" -e. Poe
- SO. MUCH. free chocolate at Harry London last week when we took a tour on P-day. The best. Also, chocolate comas are a real thing.
 - We found our investigator in a deep sleep on her porch and didn't know what to do.. we hesitated so much and eventually walked around the corner and pretended we didn't see her sleeping and called out, "HI MICHELLE!" to wake her up. Missionary life is the awkward life. I chose it. ;)
- WHEN MATT said we were his favorite missionaries!!!! Holla. Best feeling. (Also, shout out to our Ward Mission Leader's family, who also said that. I think they were just joking, but still, it gave me some warm fuzzies.)
- GETTING THROUGH MY 50th DAY! So we had a booth at the Stark County Fair and we worked at it the whole day.. LONGEST day EVER. No joke, haha. We were there on Senior day.. so, old people. I love old people, but most are not open. ANYWAYS. This lady said, "I thought I could be Mormon but it's not true. You know why? ALL angels names end in EL: Gabriel, Michael, uhhhh... yeah!!! NO Moron-I or anything, it doesn't say that in the Bible!" So I liked her and she also had ice cream dripping down her chin and crazy curly hair. She was a cool lady and a good story I have to share now. Also, chocolate-covered frozen bananas = best life decision.
- "I'm here and I'm not handcuffed or anything!!!!!" -Matt, walking into the church building for his baptism. His wife had threatened to chain him up and drag him there if he backed out.. hahah

Sister Pound's Mission Definitions:
"Prayer works.": A sentence you say after you pray and the miracle happens. Look for it :)
So we went to visit a less active at the hospital and she was having personal issues with her son and we could hear her talking on the phone. The nurse went in to deal with it and try to calm her down.. Awkward sitch. But we were with the Elders and didn't know what to do, if we should go in. So they said, "Let's pray!!!" because the LA wouldn't answer her phone and we were stuck. Elder Poe started praying and AS SOON as he started, she called us back. So, prayer works! We laughed a lot at the situation. But it's true. Prayer helps. Miracles come when we pray and look for answers. I dare you to try it out this week :D

big hugs + little hugs,
Sister Pound :)))
